Quilt Notes - A Week of Many Hats 010 0526

This week felt like one long reminder that preparing for a big show means wearing more than one hat — sometimes all in the same day. I snapped a photo of my tote bag and my garden hat sitting together on the table, and it made me laugh because it perfectly summed up the last few days. One minute I’m in the greenhouse checking on plants after a surprise frost, and the next I’m knee‑deep in storage bins planning out booth logistics for The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show.

Garden Hats are must right now!

We’re turning our storage space into the home base for all the booth furniture and display pieces, so yesterday was a full‑body project. Sorting, lifting, reorganizing, deciding what stays and what goes. I’m still in my recovery window for my groin injury, so I saved the heavy lifting for when Dave and I could tackle it together. Even with that, I could feel tiny reminders from the muscle — just enough to keep me smart and steady. Compression shorts and FIR heat therapy have become my best friends.

In the middle of all that, I found a few things I could sell and listed them on Facebook Marketplace. A little unexpected decluttering win. And yes… The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show has officially taken over my dreams. I guess that’s how I know I’m excited.

There’s something satisfying about seeing the Totescan sheets sitting on top of the bins, ready to keep everything trackable and tidy. These are the same organization stickers I recommend for fabric stashes — the simple app lets you categorize your bins, add photos, and with one quick scan on your phone, you know exactly what’s inside without opening a single lid. It’s one of my favorite little systems, and it’s doing double duty now for the booth prep.

I told everyone during the LIVE event in April that I’d be sharing the journey to The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show, and this feels like the perfect place to begin. There’s so much ahead — product prep, booth planning, travel logistics, and all the creative energy that comes with getting ready for a show. I’m excited to bring you along for every part of it because it wouldn't be happening without all of you.

Here we go — Road to The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show!
