Some days don’t go the way you plan — and yesterday was one of them. I sat down ready for a full day of pattern writing, but the Midwest had other ideas. During an all‑day Midwest downpour, what was supposed to be a smooth smart‑lighting upgrade turned into a surprise four‑hour road trip to IKEA — well, because of course it did. We’re almost finished, but we’re still waiting on one last piece to arrive today before the studio lighting is officially complete. Even though it wasn’t the day I expected, it reminded me of something important: even when life reroutes you, the work still gets done, the momentum keeps building, and BAQ continues to grow in ways that surprise and delight me every single day.

And speaking of momentum… we’re getting closer to The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show. And when you're there the Magic Number will be 422! More on that in a moment.

Master Class Series: Your Enthusiasm Is Lighting Up the Studio
The Master Class Series has been such a joy to share with you — truly. Every day I hear from BAQers who are stitching along, learning the Basic 6, discovering new confidence with their embroidery machines, and finally feeling like quilting “makes sense” in this format.
One BAQer said this week:
“I’m so happy someone is finally teaching us how to quilt with our embroidery machines.”
That comment hit me right in my heart. It’s exactly why I created BAQ, and seeing so many of you dive in, experiment, and enjoy the process has been the highlight of my summer. Your excitement, your curiosity, your willingness to try something new — it’s all fueling this beautiful momentum.
The classes are fun, they’re lively, and they’re meant to make you feel empowered every time you sit down at your machine. I’m thrilled you’re finding them useful, inspiring, and confidence‑building. The next installment will post this Thursday 8/6/26 at 10am CDT.

💗 A Huge Welcome to All the New BAQers
So many of you have joined our Build A Quilt family recently and I just have to welcome you all. Years ago, my embroidery friends challenged me to find a way for them to quilt with their embroidery machines. That challenge became a method, a curriculum, a community, and now a movement. BAQ is for every embroidery machine owner — whether your machine is brand-new, from 2010 or older, whether you’ve quilted for decades or you’re just beginning. I’m so glad you’re here. Let's keep this quilting journey going and Quilt Life Beautiful. Diana
