Quilt Notes: A Night in Sleepy Hollow, Autumn Pumpkins, and Finding Our Way Back to Normal...031 2026
If you had told me a year ago that I’d spend an October evening reunited with my husband in the afterlife, I probably would’ve laughed and gone back to quilting. But Sleepy Hollow had other plans.
This weekend, Dave and I stepped straight into the legend itself — I appeared as the secret wife of the Headless Horseman, and Dave took on the role of the Horseman’s ghost, finally freed when the curse was broken. It was dramatic, eerie, and honestly… magical. There’s something about performing under autumn skies, surrounded by lanterns and crisp air, that makes the whole world feel like a storybook. And sharing that stage with Dave? That’s a memory I’m keeping forever.

Studio Update: Cabinets, Chaos, and a Knee That’s Not Thrilled With Me
Back in the real world, we’re at the cabinet-installation stage of the studio remodel — which feels like the home stretch, even if everything is still in piles and half-sorted. Starting Monday, I’m officially back to BAQ work while I finish putting things away.
All that time on the new floor, though… whew. My left knee (the one reconstructed back in the early 1970s) has decided to remind me that I am, in fact, not made of titanium. So I’m slowing down just a bit, icing, resting, and trying not to reenact any more ghostly galloping scenes.

A Little Autumn Gift: Your Basic 6 Pumpkin Pattern
Since it’s officially autumn — my favorite season — I wanted to leave you with something cozy and seasonal to play with. Using your Basic 6 set, you’ll be able to stitch up a classic autumn pumpkin block. It’s simple, warm, and perfect for table toppers, mini quilts, or even a seasonal wall hanging.
Here is the design and creation map to follow. 2x2 segments make a great mini and 7x7 make extraordinary fun wall quilt. You choose from any of the segment sizes in your Basic 6 set and just have fun. Great for scrap fabrics.

Monthly LIVE — This Wednesday, 10/14 at 6:00 PM CST
And now… it’s time to get back to normal.
This Wednesday, October 14th, we’re having our monthly LIVE at 6:00 PM CST. I’ve missed chatting with you all, and there is so much to catch you up on — studio progress, BAQ updates, upcoming plans, and a few surprises I’ve been saving.
I can’t wait to spend some time with you, pal. Autumn feels like a fresh start, and I’m ready to settle back into our rhythm together.
See you Wednesday.
Quilt Life Beautiful...
