Quilt Notes: Spring Colors, Fresh Palettes - 006 0426

April 6, 2026

Every year, spring arrives in its own rhythm — sometimes slowly, sometimes all at once — but always with a sense of renewal. This week, that feeling met me right at the edge of the flower farm. My azaleas opened in a burst of pink, soft and bright at the same time, the kind of color that stops you mid‑stride.

I shared a photo of them on Friday with a simple thought: “Spring colors always inspire me.” And it’s true. Even in a week that didn’t go as planned — loss of my dear Aunt, travel, unexpected injuries, the usual swirl of life — those blooms reminded me that inspiration doesn’t wait for perfect timing. It shows up in the small, vivid moments.

Spring is nature’s color workshop.

Spring Color Always Inspires
Spring Color

Everywhere you look, there’s a palette waiting to be gathered:

  • the saturated pinks of azaleas

  • the tender greens of new leaves

  • the soft yellows that only appear this time of year

  • the purples hiding in the shadows of early morning

These colors don’t just brighten the garden — they offer a starting point for a quilt that feels seasonal, hopeful, and alive.

So this week, I’m inviting you to do something simple and special:

Let spring choose your next palette.

Take a photo of something blooming near you — a tree, a flower bed, even a single blossom — and pull 3–5 colors from it. Let those hues guide a block, a mini quilt, or a project you’ve been waiting to begin.

There’s something grounding about letting nature lead the way. It takes the pressure off “choosing the right colors” and replaces it with a sense of play and discovery. And honestly, after the last few days, I needed that reminder myself.

If you try this, I’d love to see what inspires you. Share a photo, a palette, or a block — your creativity always sparks mine. (send photos to support@sewincommon.com)

As we move through this weekend of renewal — Easter, Passover, and the first true colors of spring — I hope you find a moment that inspires your next palette.
