Good morning, friends — and happy Sunday from our very busy corner of Illinois.
I woke up today with a sinus‑pressure migraine (because of course I did), but we’re still in full “last‑minute push” mode as we get everything ready for the Great Wisconsin Quilt Show. The studio and our home look like a tiny industrial complex: Stitchlets being packaged, samples drying, QR cards being tested, and inventory getting finalized for Square. It’s a little wild, a little chaotic, and honestly… and of course exciting..

Dave and I have been working nonstop this week, and we’re finally seeing everything come together. The last Stitchlet is being packaged today , the booth furniture and decor are packed, and we’re down to the final details — filming, finishing, organizing, and prepping all the digital patterns for the show.

In the middle of all this, I wanted to give you something simple and fun you can make today with your Basic 6 Segment Library — a tiny layout that’s quick, easy, and perfect for a Sunday quilt‑session.
And starting today through 9/13/26, the Basic 6 Segment Set is available on the website at our SHOW SPECIAL price. Just pop over to the link and click the button under the Great Wisconsin Quilt Show badge — it will take you straight to the product page. The discount is already applied, so there’s no need for a coupon code.
This is the digital Basic 6 set. The all‑new Boxed Set will debut at the Great Wisconsin Quilt Show and then be available online after the event. You may even see it at your favorite quilt or fabric shop soon. If you’d love to see BAQ in your local store, please let your shop owner know — they truly value your input.
🧵 Basic 6 Quick Layout: The SAM - Sweet and Marvelous
This is a small, modern layout you can make with any Basic 6 segment size. It’s fast, clean, and perfect for scraps or a coordinated fabric pull. And just so you know, this design came from a special friend of mine. His name is Sam, and he’s been helping us with show prep. Sam wasn’t a quilter — at least not until now — but after seeing BAQ samples and listening to me talk through the process, he put this little design together on his own.
The block is sweet and genuinely marvelous, so I’m calling it The SAM Block. It’s simple, balanced, and proof that patchwork doesn’t need to be complicated to create beautiful designs that stand the test of time.
I’d love to see what you’ve been working on, too. Pop a photo over in the new BAQ Forum — you all inspire me each and every day.

Segment Counts
4 Squares
4 Half‑Square Triangles
1 Quarter‑Square Triangle
Layout
This is a simple 9 patch block:
Corners: Squares
Centers of each side: HSTs (which creates a pinwheel)
Middle block: QST (this gives a spinning nature to the block)
It finishes beautifully as:
A mini quilt
A baby quilt
A wall quilt
Or the start of a larger layout
Why this works
It’s balanced, geometric, and lets you play with color placement without needing a full pattern. And if you already own the Basic 6 Library, you have everything you need — cutting, stitching, segment creation, and finishing.
💗 Thank You for Being Here
This week is going to be a whirlwind as we finish samples, film tutorials, prep wholesale packages, load inventory, and get ready to hit the road. But sharing these little layouts with you reminds me why I love this community so much — even in the middle of the chaos, there’s always room for creativity.
I’ll have more updates in the days ahead. From my corner to yours, Quilt Life Beautiful, Diana
