Friends… autumn finally showed up.

We went from sweating through 90‑degree days this past week to waking up in the 30s on Sunday morning. It’s that sudden Midwestern snap that makes you reach for sweaters, warm drinks, and — of course — your holiday quilting projects.

The studio feels different when the weather shifts like this. The light changes, the air gets crisp, and suddenly the idea of stitching something cozy feels exactly right—so it was time fora changing of the quilts. I love spending sometime in the morning switching out all of the wall quilts. This one is a favorite and it has a story. I loved the fabrics since I first saw them. I made a quilt just like this one last year and gave it to someone that loved it even more. So, on Friday when Dave and I were at a little shop about two hours from our home, I saw that they were selling their shop sample. I have never done anything quite this impulsive, but I took it off the hanger, walked up to the counter and purchased it. I've never bought a quilt in my life, but this one put a spell on me and I was a goner. This quilt says Autumn and just a little Halloween all at once. It has just the right mood to carry us onto the holiday season. Sometimes its ok to treat ourselves and I like having someone else's art in my home as well.

And with the cold settling in, it’s officially time to talk about…

Our Build A Quilt Holiday QAL begins November 15, and this year’s project is such a joyful, festive make. Because this QAL takes place in a private space on the BAQ website, every participant needs a physical ticket — mailed directly to you.

That means now is the time to grab your ticket so it arrives in plenty of time.

One the back of your ticket envelope, you’ll find everything you need to access the private QAL space, where the full pattern, digital files, instructions, and project details will drop before we begin. It’s cozy, focused, and completely off social media — just us stitching together for the season. And this year we are making three projects from one design (20x20 mat - 20x60 table runner - and of course a 40x40 quilt) make one or all three and have a lovely coordinated set for your holiday home.

If holiday quilting is calling your name, this is your invitation to jump in.

New Series: Finish Quilting — And You’re Loving It

This week we launched a new four part series. The new Finish Quilting series is off to a fantastic start —and you all are already showing your love for it, which tells me this is a topic you’ve been waiting for.

This series is all about helping you take your quilt tops across the finish line with confidence. Clear steps, approachable techniques, and that BAQ-style clarity you’ve come to expect. There are so many way to finish your quilts, but in this series we are focusing on what else - finish quilting with your embroidery machine. You can catch the Replay of the video at the website or the YouTube channel. More episodes are coming each week, and I’m excited to keep building this out as we head deeper into the season.

Between the weather shift, the holiday projects, and the new quilting series, the whole studio feels wrapped in autumn energy right now. Warm colors, cozy textures, and that sense of momentum that always arrives with the first cold snap. I look forward to stitching with you as we head into one of my favorite times of year.

Here’s to a beautiful, busy, creative season ahead. Quilt Life Beautiful,

Diana
